At the Brookline Community Foundation, we’re constantly inspired by the ways our community comes together to address local needs and solve complex challenges. We get to witness—and amplify—generous acts of civic involvement every day.
Thanks to the commitments of many, we’re making Brookline a better community to live, work and grow. In 2018, the Foundation helped hundreds of individuals, groups, businesses, and nonproits make an impact in our town. Together, we made more than $622,000 in grants to address the needs of Brookline’s most vulnerable residents, build the capacity of essential nonproits, and expand opportunities for all.
We hit several other philanthropic milestones this year too—exceeding our ambitious fundraising goal for the BCF Scholarship Fund for Brookline High School, contributing more than $350,000 in grants to alleviate poverty, and signiicantly expanding funding for out-of-school time and community health and wellness. In tandem with our strategic giving, we also funded the most comprehensive research to date on out-of-school time needs in Brookline.
All of this has been possible because of neighbors, like you, who make community philanthropy a priority. In this report, we’re putting a spotlight on members of the Brookline community who choose to give where they live. We hope you’ll be as inspired as we are by their stories.
We remain grateful for your contributions and hopeful about the difference we can make when we give together.
