On Sunday October 22, Brookline community members gathered at the Brookline Avenue Playground to celebrate Brookline’s Third Annual Dog Day. Organized by the Brookline Rotary Club, Dog Day is a fun-filled community gathering and an opportunity to support the Rotary’s vital work.

The event began with the gates opening and an opportunity to visit local venders, enjoy food from Mig’s Dogs and Jamie’s Ice Cream Co. and a rousing game of musical hula hoops. At noon, guests were treated to a dog parade and costume contest, with medals awarded for best homemade costume, best team costume (human and dog), funniest costume and best red carpet costume…though let’s face it, the real winners were all of us for getting to see those adorable pups. Other activities included doggie yoga, a demonstration of the Brookline Police Department’s canine unit, and a visit from the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, who shared about their work training guide dogs for blind and low-vision individuals.

No Dog Day would be complete without photos of Brookline’s most dashing canines. See some of our favorite photos from Dog Day below.

An outdoor community gathering is happening on a sunny day on a bright green lawn. Small tents dot the perimeter, under which vendors and sponsors are stationed to connect with community members. People and their dogs socialize on the lawn, engaging in conversation and laughter.
